The United Nations Climate Change Conferences are yearly conferences held in the framework of the UNFCCC and this time the meeting of the UNFCCC was held in Madrid. Norvergence an NGO working as an environmental protection NGO too had a lot of expectation from the formal meeting of the UNFCCC Parties.
The expectation from the COP25 was a discussion on a number of issues relevant to WHO’s work on climate change and human health that would include:
- Capacity building
- Matters related to least developed countries(LDCs)
- Climate Change
- The second review of the adequacy of UNFCCC Article 4
Whereas the result of the meeting was not that satisfying as issues like creating rules for trading carbon emission, helping the developing countries pay for climate damages and Article 6 remained unresolved issues in the meeting.
The article “who will pay for the damage done by climate change?” reveals both the good and the bad side of the meeting and the expectations of the countries connected to it.
