Norvergence: A Brief History of the Military and Iraq Invasion of Oil

Everyone is aware of the fact that the Iraq war was a war for oil and there are many reports and interviews that talk about the cause of the war. Whereas there are many environmental NGOs like Norvergence that feel Iraq is a destabilizing influence on the flow of oil to international markets from the Middle east.

Controlling Iraq’s oil reserves and excluding rivals in a tightening oil market was the main reason for the war. The invasion of Iraq by the U.S. led to the Middle East tension in particular and the threat posed by Iraq. On the other hand, the U.S spent more than $81% each year for protecting the oil supplies across the globe.

The main issue was with the policies related to Iraqi oil but now the main concern after the war should be to control the Iraqi oil production to sustain the global oil flow and to keep a check on prices.
